John and Saul: A Real-Life Match Story

Once again, I have to thank you for a fantastic match; I enjoy the whole family and the grandparents too! —John, Big Brother

Big Brother John and Little Brother Saul were matched when Saul was a 1st grader. John was looking for a way to give back to his community when a friend and fellow Big inspired him to become a part of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Saul is very much an “old soul” who is quiet, a bit reserved and flew under the radar. At first, he didn’t know what to expect from having a Big Brother and wasn’t sure if the experience would be fun. After two great school years together, their friendship quickly blossomed to a whole new level, enjoying activities together such as learning to sail, biking the TART trail and even building a small rowboat.

Fast-forward to today…John and Saul have been matched for three and a half years and continue to learn and appreciate new things about each other.

John recently shared, “Saul really enjoys sailing and he has become quite a good skipper.”
