Michael was a great individual and a hero to all of us for his service in the military. He served two tours of combat duty in Afghanistan before being Honorably Discharged from the Marine Corps as a Corporal in 2013.
Michael was matched in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program when he was a young boy with Big Brother Chris, whom to this day, was still a big part of Michael’s life. They shared many milestones together in each other’s lives over the years, and truly were best friends. They epitomize the type of friendship and support we hope for and strive for in each mentor-mentee relationship we put together.
In 2012, upon returning home from one of his tours of duty, Michael and Chris came together and shared their story of friendship will all of us; which was videotaped and viewed amongst many in the Big Brother Big Sister network. We would like to share this video with you.
Michael, you will always be with us in our hearts and in our minds. Thank you for all the joy and strength you gave to us by simply being a great young man who cared so much for others.
